Drug Use in Pregnancy: Focus on the Newborn

About

Newborns prenatally exposed to maternal substances of abuse make up an ever-growing portion of the United States' population of children. The most recent data from the National Institute on Drug Abuse suggest that over 1 million children per year are exposed to alcohol and illicit substances during gestation. The health consequences for these newborns are enormous, and the implications for early management are quite complicated. This webinar series will explore the medical and neurobehavioral outcomes of newborns exposed prenatally to illicit drugs and the legal and child welfare implications for the children and their families.
