The Leadership Institute - Testimonials

“I have been in the maternal child health field for many years, and for the last 20 years, we have been trying to address the problem of prenatal substance abuse in our county.  It was not until our team attended the Leadership Institute's Leadership Institute, that we actually were able to implement a perinatal substance use assessment program with our Obstetricians and begin screening all pregnant women in our county for the use of tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs.  We have accomplished more in the last three years than we had been able to do in 20 years.  The institute helped us focus on our vision, set goals and objectives, and develop a scope of work that was easy to implement and support within our community.”

"At the end of the Leadership Institute we had a strong written plan to move step by step toward really reducing substance use by pregnant women.  With this impetus, we formed a nonprofit, have screened over 3,000 women for substance use, and positively impacted the lives of babies born in Luna County, New Mexico and Palomas, Mexico."

"Our Arizona multi-agency team spent two days with Dr. Chasnoff in a retreat setting to design how the juvenile court, child welfare, early intervention and behavioral health systems would work together to  provide coordinated services to several thousand young maltreated children being removed from their parent’s custody each year. We all left the retreat with a great deal of new knowledge of the needs of these children as well as a common vision for working across agency lines to improve outcomes for them. Over the past several years a number of new programs and resources have sprung up because of the collaboration we gained through our work with Dr. Chasnoff."
